Ashpaw left the apprentice's den and looked around. So far he hadn't seen his sister yet, so maybe she was out training with her mentor. It was possible. Ears twitched as he walked around camp, there were cats talking amongst each other but the young apprentice wasn't sure if he should join in. He had tried to talk to others when he was a kit but look at how that ended up going. He really could only talk to the Elders really it seemed. Moving away from the other cats, he took a seat at the entrance to the camp and his golden yellow gaze glanced about.
Eventually he'd have to sit here guarding camp as a vigil when he became a warrior. But there was no harm just sitting here and keeping an eye out was there? He didn't know where his mentor was. So what was he suppose to do? The elders needed to sleep and rest, so he couldn't really bother them. The other apprentices were most likely doing whatever they wanted, after all some of them were kits when he was one and were mainly friends with his sister. It was a clear day, not a cloud in sight and the sun was just shining down to the ground. Just a normal day it seemed.
Rowenpaw had been out hunting, or at least he had been trying to hunt. He had woken up that morning feeling confident that he would catch plenty of prey and be able to show his amble catch to his mentor only once he got out into the woods he had failed to catch a single thing. It wasn't that there wasn't any prey scurrying around ether it was just that Rowenpaw was not a very good hunter yet. Despite the long month of training and practice Rowenpaw was still to active to make a good hunter, moving around and making to much noise which then scared off the prey long before he could get into position to kill it. His mentor often chided him for his over abundance of energy saying that if he acted more like the apprentice he was and less like the kit he had been he would make a much better hunter.
He did not like thinking of how often he seemed to disappoint his mentor though so Rowenpaw pushed those thoughts from his mind while he pushed his body through the entrance to the Thunderclan camp. The familiar pull of branches grabbing at his thick fur as he pushed his way into the camp was strangely comforting and helped lesson the sting of shame from his bad hunt. Also the fact that he didn't see his mentor in the camp when he looked around was another bonus. What he did see though was Ashpaw sitting near by looking like he was on watch or something. With a pounce in his step, Rowenpaw made his way over to the strange apprentice.
"Hullo," He greeted cheerfully. Rowenpaw was only a moon older then the other and yet he didn't know his fellow apprentice very well. Rowenpaw had spent very little time in the queens den, instead he had spent as much of his time roaming the camp grounds as he could. When he had seen the other kit though it had always been with the elders it seemed and since Rowenpaw and figured the elders to be slow boring old cats Rowenpaw had very little interaction with the other. Now was different though since they were both apprentices. They were now like brothers in arms, learning the great ways of the warrior! It made it so that they had something in common and Rowenpaw figured he should at least greet Ashpaw when he saw the other tom cat.
